One of our members, Mr. Sandhiprakash Bhide, has done some research on Dr. Khankhoje, the first Maharashtrian in Oregon. Following are the documents that he shared with Oregon Marathi Mandal, including his correspondence with Oregon State University Archives Department, Dr. Khankhoje's daughter, Ms. Maya Khankhoje and some photocopies of archives he received from OSU Archives. As this document shows, Dr. Khankhoje was one of only 3 Indians (only 2 of which were listed) in academic year 1909/10 in Oregon Agricultural College.
This is 1912 Orange Year Book from Oregon Agricultural College which has Dr. Khankhoje's photograph with this comment about him... "De nucleun is de part you want"
Dr. Khankhoje listed as one of 3 Indians in Oregon Agricultural College in academic year 1909/10. He is also listed in Alumni Directories of year 1913, 1922 and 1925.
Following are snapshots of Mr. Sandhiprakash Bhide's correspondence with Maya Khankhoje, daughter of Dr. Khankhoje. It reveals some additional details about Dr. Khankhoje's life and his days in Oregon.
